On May 9, Facebook user Mari Margieva published a post, claiming that offices, gyms, shops, business services and schools are being closed for vaccinated people in the United States. She also noted that “fatal choice” of these people became the reason behind such decision. The author of the post referred to the media as the source of her information. The post is accompanied by a video of an English-language news program where anchors are talking about an anti-vaccination decision by a Miami private school.

;
Mari Margieva’s post contains disinformation. In fact, the United States is opening a wide range of facilities for vaccinated people and the latter are offered various incentives. The video in question covers only one particular case that occurred in a Florida school, while the second part of the video contains the remarks by an infectious disease specialist who strongly criticizes the school’s position according to which vaccinated people pose a threat to others.

Mari Margieva’s video actually discusses not mass closure of various facilities for vaccinated people, but a particular case that took place in one of the private schools in Florida, where the school administration called COVID-19 vaccines experimental and restricted vaccinated employees’ contacts with students, as they believe that they have an impact on unvaccinated individuals. In the second part of the video, infectious disease specialist Dr. Aileen Marty slams the school’s decision as “heartbreaking” and notes that the school administration cites no scientific evidence.

On April 26, the Centner Academy, a private school in Miami, sent an email to its parents reading that the school will not employ anyone who has taken “the experimental COVID-19 injection,” because vaccine trials are not over and it is unknown how it will impact unvaccinated individuals. The school asked any employee who has not yet taken the experimental COVID-19 injection, to wait until the end of the school year. The email also reads that a vaccinated individual poses a threat to unvaccinated people and therefore, vaccinated teachers should have no contacts with students. The school claimed that tens of thousands of women all over the world have recently been reporting adverse reproductive issues from being in close proximity with those who have received any one of the COVID-19 injections.

The email content and allegations were subject to strong criticism. According to Henry Ford Health System, a leading health care and medical services provider, there is no evidence that any COVID-19 vaccine causes fertility problems among women and man. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that the authorized COVID-19 vaccines are safe for pregnant and breastfeeding people.

The United States offers various incentives to vaccinated people

In fact, the United States is actively offering various incentives to vaccinated people. For example, the Biden administration announced a new partnership with two taxi companies – Uber and Lyft – to offer free rides to anyone going to a COVID-19 vaccination site to get their shots. The City of Chicago announced the launch of the Protect Chicago Music Series, a monthly series of music events taking place all across Chicago as an incentive and benefit for Chicagoans who receive a COVID-19 vaccine. Moreover, New York’s Major League Baseball teams, the Yankees and the Mets, will give free tickets to fans who get vaccinated against the coronavirus at their ballparks before the games. Everyone who receives their vaccination at the American Museum of Natural History in New York will receive a voucher for complimentary general admission to the Museum for up to a group of four. In Alabama, vaccinated people will be enjoying the exclusive opportunity to drive around the world-famous Talladega Superspeedway. Drivers and their riders will take two laps behind a pace car at highway speed, including the 33-degree-high banks. This is only a small list of incentives offered to vaccinated people. According to CDC, fully vaccinated people will be able to travel domestically without quarantining. Moreover, fully vaccinated people can also travel internationally.

  • About Centner Academy

The Florida school that sent an anti-vaccination notice to parents containing false scientific claims was established by David Centner and his wife Leila Centner in September 2020. The school promotes “medical freedom” from vaccines and offers to help parents opt out of vaccines that are otherwise required for students in Florida. During the pandemic, the school did not force its students to wear a mask. Parents claimed that Leila Centner, a co-founder, operated a WhatsApp group called “Knowledge Is Key” on which she shared anti-vaccination material with teachers.
